“A Factory Scene” or “How I Painted the Industrial Revolution”: A Painting Video with Pierre Escargot
When searching through the “vaults,” we came across this. We thought it had been lost, like so many celluloid films from the golden age of cinema. It’s a fantastic painting lesson and the only one that has survived from Pierre Escargot. His original narration was lost, but has been replaced with Chopin, who composed during the Industrial Revolution and is one of Pierre’s favorites.
The painting lesson was originally intended for eighth grade and up in a Waldorf school, but it would be equally suitable in any school or home school setting.
The opening credits refer to a video on the Earth Four palette. Tragically, that video has been lost. The Earth Four palette was a favorite of Pierre’s to use with adolescents. Indigo, Golden Yellow, Burnt Umber and Burnt Sienna are the four colors.
We hope you enjoy this wonderful video from a master.
It is a huge file, having been filmed in something like HD (hi-definition). If it stalls on your computer, just click pause, make a cup of tea or cafe au lait and when you come back, it will be fully loaded for you viewing pleasure. Make sure that you expand the video to full page, as you’ll get the best experience of the almost high definition.
